Interview With Web Series “Whole Day Down”

We sat down with the cast  to talk about the hit web series “Whole Day Down.”

What is Whole Day Down about?

Willie Garson: It’s about two guys who open an art gallery. It’s almost like Abbott and Costello at work in the modern art world. They’re constantly trying to get a show and make some money but they’re failures. The characters are sort of broader versions of Patrick and myself.

Patrick Breen: The show takes a sincere look at mid life career change and ineptitude’s power when confronted with overwhelming evil, criticism and bad manners.  And of course love, in the series we wanted to explore the love pentagram, if you will, where no one loves the person that loves them, representing the unsentimental, true nature of romance.

Tai Fauci: All that and the apocalypse.

What inspired you to make the series?

Patrick Breen: Our collective unconscious was held captive in the gulag of longer formats and maxed credit. The web rubbed our lamp, freeing us and all our dreams. In season two we hope to analyze and interpret these djinns and offer solace and a more coherent story in these dark times.

Tai Fauci: Our gloomy but shared outlook that mankind is manufacturing the end of days through the horrific treatment of our planet, so we better make a web series before the Mayan Calendar runs out.

Willie Garson: Basically what makes US laugh.

You guys have an impressive cast. How did you put this ensemble together?

Willie Garson: We all wanted an excuse to do something together. We’ve all known each other for a long time. And Patrick and I have been friends for 30 years.  Dan Fauci, Tai’s father, who plays Mr. G. on the show, has been my teacher since I was twelve years old. And we basically all raised Tai together.

Tai Fauci: I am actually or practically related to most of the cast. My dad and my sister are in the series. Willie, Patrick and Karen Austin have all played a role in my life since I was a fetus.

Patrick Breen: We’ve worked with a lot of actors and weren’t complete schmucks at the time. I met Shiri Appleby when she was 12 on a Norman Lear series. We won’t say what year that was.

Are there any little known facts or spoilers about the series that you can share with us?

Patrick Breen: The original title was “The Pirates of the Caribbean – the curse of the forged Basquiat”

Tai Fauci: We changed it when we received a cease and desist order from a certain mousy studio.

Willie Garson: Also, Willie and Patrick are going to die.
